Dedications and Blessings:
This deck is dedicated to everyone who breathes life into the Enneagram, searching to better themselves for the sake of a better world – and especially to all those who have struggled to resonate with traditional Enneagram teachings. We want to thank everyone who took part in our Enneagram journeys, helping us share this deck with the world. Most importantly, this deck is dedicated to Sara Rogers: Enneagram practitioner and beautiful soul. Rest in paradise.
How to use this deck:
This deck is intended to foster genuine love and relationships. Use this tool to connect with yourself and your community. The cards, spreads, and guidebook are prompts for you to reflect on how you respond to reality, where you can grow, and where you might have gaps in self-awareness. Remember to use other tools like Therapy and journaling to process what you find here.
INTRODUCTION:
How not to use this deck:
This deck is not a divination tool to determine what will happen in your reality. It’s not to be used to define another person’s journey. It should not be used for harm. Not everything will speak to you – if something isn’t working for you, don’t force it. Take what works for you now, and come back to the rest.
eNNEAGRAM FOR THE PEOPLE:
The Enneagram is a tool that allows us to know our true selves. Its roots have been said to stem from all over the world. The Enneagram inherently has no gender, no religion, and no nationality. The Enneagram is not a tool for profit, but for revolutionary connection and collective potential. Thousands have written and discussed the wonder of the Enneagram from a plethora of perspectives for decades. This Reflection Deck and Guidebook simply scratches the surface. That being said, the Enneagram is subjective and non-universal. Only you know what's true for you.
tHE POWER OF COMMON LANGUAGE:
When we are able to understand the reality and potential of our true selves, we can articulate it out to the world. The 9 Enneagram types serve as a common dictionary to reference. With this tool, we have the power to connect, relate, and trust one another in ways that once felt impossible. Imagine the world we could have if we spent our time working to connect rather than defending our misunderstandings.
tRAUMA AND THE eNNEAGRAM:
In many ways, one can think of each Enneagram Type and its motivations as an overarching trauma response. This is a simple and powerful concept to remember while processing. This is an invitation to reframe your distress patterns as a response to the traumatic world we live in – not an inherent fault of your personality. Of course, we invite you to reframe the distress patterns of those around you as trauma responses as well. The first step to working through trauma patterns is to be able to notice and name the behavior and underlying distress. We hope this deck is helpful in that life-long practice. This deck is not a divination tool to determine what will happen in your reality. It’s not to be used to define another person’s journey. It should not be used for harm. Not everything will speak to you – if something isn’t working for you, don’t force it. Take what works for you now, and come back to the rest.
eNNEAGRAM thEORy:
Generally, Enneagram Theory says that there are 9 broad types of people. Each type holds their own unique motivations, gifts, challenges, fears, and inspirations. In this theory, every person has an Enneagram Type. This was developed during childhood, when you were figuring out how to understand and survive in the confusing world around you.Your Enneagram Type does not necessarily define your behaviors or potential – it brings understanding to the motivations behind them. Traditionally, the theory says that you have always been and will always be the same Enneagram Type. However, each type also has a special relationship with the other types, connected by lines on the Enneagram Web. This creates a fully dynamic Enneagram Profile for each of us.
eNNEAGRAM 101:
Your Enneagram Profile is made up of the 5 Types you're directly connected with on the Enneagram Web:
Core Type
Growth Type
Stress Type

CORE TYPE: This is your home base. It holds your deepest desires, fears, challenges, and gifts. When someone refers to "Your Enneagram Type" this is what they're talking about.

Uncovering Your Type:
Identifying your Enneagram Type is neither a quick nor easy feat. It requires a lot of self-reflection and understanding life through the lens of Enneagram Theory. The Enneagram illustrates the underlying motivations behind your behavior, not the behavior itself. The more time you spend reflecting on why you do things rather than what you do, the closer you'll get to uncovering your Core Enneagram Type. Your Core Type is your most natural, imperfect, basic self. It can be hard to think of yourself beyond the expectations of unrealistic potential, gender roles, racialized stereotypes, and so much more. You may not identify with every piece of your Core Type. That is great, we are fully unique and dynamic beings. However, keep an eye out for pieces you may be in denial of.And remember – everyone has each of the 9 energies within us, one is simply the most prominent.
Ultimately, only you can decide your Enneagram Type. Here are some statements to help narrow down your type. If you agree with the statement, you may be one of the Core Types next to it. If you don't know the answer right away, take time this week to notice how you naturally react to these questions.
I make big decisions based on:
My internal feelings | 2,3,4
My logical thinking | 5,6,7
My internal instinct | 8,9,1
I tend to keep my attention:
In the past | 4,5,9
In the present | 1,2,6
In the future | 3,7,8
I react to problems:
quickly & intensely | 4,8,6
slowly & logically | 1,5,3
with positive reframe | 9,7,2
In stressful moments I can be:
assertive & aggressive | 7,8,3
dependent on a plan | 2,6,1
withdrawn & detached | 4,5, 9
Growth & Stress:
Each Enneagram Type is connected by a line to two other types on the Enneagram Web. One line represents a Growth Direction, the other represents a Stress Direction. Our Growth and Stress types compensate for our Core Type patterns. Our Growth Direction can help us become more empathetic, open-minded, and driven. Our Stress Type can ground us for safety – but it also reveals what happens for us when we're under distress or spiraling internally. Notice that each type Shares a Line with another. For one type, it's a Growth Direction, for the other, it's a Stress Direction. This illustrates the contradiction and balance of energies.
One of the many misconceptions about the Enneagram is that it confines our potential to just one type. This is simply untrue. Our Growth and Stress types give us characteristics that allow us to be our full, dynamic selves. IIn times of confusion and limitation, we can look towards our Growth Type for inspiration to pull us out of our difficult patterns.Similarly, in times of overwhelm, we can look to our Stress Type for healthy ways to ground ourselves and notice when we are moving away from our true selves.
However, each type has its own challenges as well. These fears and struggles can also show up in both Stress and Growth Types. Take a Look at the ways that Growth and Stress Types affect each Core Type. We have an incredible opportunity to notice and respond to these qualities that are both welcome and unwelcome. Ultimately, we get to choose which qualities we want to invite into our lives and which characteristics we want to work through and move away from.

Wings & Balance
The Enneagram Types on either sides of our Core Type are called our Wing Types. Imagine you are a bird. You need two strong wings to soar to new heights! Using the Enneagram, we can study the energies of both of our Wing Types and integrate their energies into our lives. While we often have a stronger relationship with one wing over the other, we must intentionally develop both of our wings. This allows us to be full and balanced.
What are your Wing Types?
Type 1: Reformers: Wings 9 & 2. 1s can be very rigid in their expectations for themselves and others. Their 2 Wing steers their action towards benevolence and social justice for all people, and especially people in marginalized circumstances.

The Cards
In this deck, there are six cards dedicated to each of the 9 Enneagram energies, creating a total of 54 cards. Each card is an invitation to reflect on the strengths and challenges of its type's energy. In each reading, it is important to interpret each card as you see it in that moment. It is likely that your subconscious mind is trying to explain something to you.
The Element: This card represents the unique role within the Enneagram Ecosystem. When in doubt, look to your element for inspiration.
The Gift: This card illustrates the potential for a particularly wonderful contribution to one's own life, a relationship, a group, or the world. It is easy to forget that we hold these special powers.
The Growth: This card depicts a contradiction to our individual struggles. It is a notion to move towards when we're stuck in a rut.
The Struggle: This card is a reality check for our survival mode patterns. It is usually a behavior or outlook we use to keep ourselves steady. Ironically, it is also often the very thing that holds us back from finding what we're really longing for.
The Lie: This card reveals the false promise we've been sold. Society relies on our isolation to uphold its oppressive systems. We may think that things like perfectionism and productivity keep us safe, but all they do is keep us distracted in fear and separate from one another.
The Fear: The terrifying truth that motivates all of our desperate behavior. As much as we want to avoid it, we have to be able to face it if we want to find presence and be honest with ourselves. Understanding our fears helps us heal together, instead of hiding away from each other.
